How to Change IP Address Quickly In windows

Hi GeeKs,

This is One of  the way to change IP address if you are using windows based Operating System.Many times some sites BAN your IP address; to gain access to that site or to download more file from any file sharing website above limit just follow steps…

STEP:1 OPEN Run or press Windows key+R


Type CMD and hit enter

Than you will see black screen (Command Prompt)

  • Type “ipconfig /release” there

You will see something like This..

  • Type “exit” and leave the prompt
  • In Windows 7 or vista open NETWORK AND SHARING center and click on CHANGE ADEPTER SETTINGS
  • In windows XP open NETWORK CONNECTIONS

Now You Should see Local Area Connection

  • Right click on it and select properties

STEP:2 Double-click on the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” from the list under the “General” tab

Type any numbers there and hit TAB to automatically fill in the “Subnet Mask” section with default numbers

Apply all settings and press OK.

Now be back to the “Local Area Connection” screen.

  • Right-click back on “Local Area Connection” and go to properties again.
  • Go to the “TCP/IP” settings and select “Obtain an IP address automatically”

Hit OK..


open cmd and type  “ipconfig /release” there.Then type “ipconfig/renew” .wait till it completes its process,when completed Disconnect your internet connection and connect it again.

You are done now.You have new ip address.Check your new ip by visiting Enjoy sites which have banned your ip and download unlimited form REPIDSHARE like sites unlimited in a day..

NOTE:This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address.

    It works great .I checked my ip address with before and after using your instruction,Guess what it worked like a charm and my Ip is changed.I only checked in Widows 7.I hope it will work in Windows 8 also.
